Curiosity Cove LLC makes personalized mugs. This page explains what we collect to make and ship your mug, and how we protect it. Last updated October 16, 2026.

Your photos and designs

  • Photos you add in the design studio go straight to private storage. They are not public, and only your browser session can use them while you design.
  • If you send photos from your phone with the studio’s QR code, they go to the same private storage, for your computer’s design session only. The code stops working after 30 minutes.
  • The studio’s free photo tools, like background removal and art effects, run in your browser or on our own servers.
  • The studio also keeps your design and photos in your browser, so they are still there when you come back. “Start over” clears the mug; “Start a new mug” removes both.
  • Photos and designs that don’t become an order are deleted automatically after 30 days.
  • When you order, we keep your approved design, its print file and your photos with your order, so we can make your mug and resolve any question about it.
  • If you save or share a design, its link opens a copy of the design, photos included, for anyone who has the link, for 30 days. If you ask us to email you the link, we use your address for that one email and don’t keep it.
  • To learn which designs and options buyers like, we keep a record of what was ordered: the design’s words and layout and the choices made, with the state and the first three digits of the ZIP code, but without your name, street address, email, phone or photos.

Your order details

We use your name, email, shipping address and phone number to make, ship and support your order. Payments are handled by our payment providers: Stripe (cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay and Link, and through Stripe also Amazon Pay, Klarna, Affirm and Cash App Pay) and PayPal (PayPal, Venmo and Pay Later). If you pay with Amazon Pay, Klarna, Affirm or Cash App Pay, that company also receives what it needs for your payment, under its own privacy policy. We never see or store your full card number. We don’t sell your personal information.

Messages you send with our contact form (your name, email, order number and message) are kept with us so we can answer them.

If you tick “Send me coupons and offers” at checkout, we use your name, email and mailing address to send you coupons and offers by email or mail. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and you can ask us to stop at any time. If you don’t tick it, we only contact you about your order.

If you join our gift reminders at the bottom of any page, we keep your email address, the day you joined and the page’s language, to send a reminder before gift days and an occasional offer. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and you can ask us to take you off at any time.

If you ask for a bulk quote, we keep your contact details, your request and the files you send (such as your logo or a list of names) to prepare your quote and your order. The files are stored privately, never at a public web address, and we delete them when you ask.

To see where the studio and checkout could be easier, we count how many visits reach each step (studio opened, design started, photo added, review, cart, checkout, paid), on phones and on computers. These are daily totals only: no cookies, no IP address, nothing that tells who you are.

Our shop records the internet (IP) address an order came from, to help stop fraud. To protect the studio from abuse, we also count how often each connection uses it; that count is kept for an hour, under a one-way code instead of the address itself.

Reviews

If you review your mug, we publish the name you choose, your stars, your words and your photo after a quick check. Photos are redrawn without the location data phones store in them, and a photo stays private until its review is approved. Ask us any time to remove your review.

Cookies

We use no advertising cookies. Our shop keeps your cart (WooCommerce’s cart and session cookies) and your design session, so your photos stay yours while you design. It also remembers how you first found us, for example a search, a shared link or an ad (WooCommerce’s sbjs_ cookies); if you order, that is saved with your order so we know which of our efforts work. It stays with us and is never shared or sold. Our web host counts page visits with Gauges, which uses its own cookies to tell new visits from returning ones (for visit counts only, never for ads). On the cart and checkout pages, our payment providers set their own cookies to process your payment safely and prevent fraud: Stripe (for example __stripe_mid and __stripe_sid) and PayPal. The studio also keeps your unfinished design on your own device (in your browser’s storage), so it is there when you come back; “Start a new mug” removes it.
